Psychological manipulation is one of the key tactics that cyber criminals use in their attacks.
 
This set of tricks includes:

• Creating a sense of urgency, which will push you to act quickly and irrationally
• Impersonating brands or institutions you trust, which will make you click on something or perform an actions that gets you infected (don’t trust unexpected prizes or similar windfalls)
• Instilling fear, so that you’ll get nervous and act impulsively (emails with subject lines such as “You’ve been let go. Click here to register for severance pay” are best deleted without being read first).

Whatever you do, don’t fall into these traps!
Take a moment to analyze what you’re reading and then decide what to do next. If something looks fishy, it’s probably a phishing attempt.
